Where Joyful Living started

Yearning to be back to the coast in 2009 I chose north Norfolk. An amazing location that’s a haven for wildlife and nature, and the perfect location for my first homeware store. I was so fortunate to find a tiny, unused building on a working farm here at Drove Orchards. Right on the coast road, the building had been used for packing mushrooms in the 50’s and offered a light, rustic home for me to start and develop my business. Dealing solely in rustic, vintage homewares I quickly grew the business and very soon ran out of room in my beautiful, ramshackle shed.

In 2014 I moved to a much larger barn premises on the same site and started to create a very defined look. Undertaking several interior styling projects, I was increasingly drawn to a far more neutral pallet emphasising texture rather than bright colours.

In 2024, my interior style continues to evolve and whilst my signature style will always be a neutral colour palette which you will still see at the store, you will now find pops of exciting colours along with great merchandising, surprising brands and always great scents. My team work really hard to ensure our customers have a great experience when shopping with us and are always on hand to advise and help.

With my love of travelling, I now work sourcing and creating new collections for the store. You will still occasionally find me at the till or merchandising a new story alongside my amazing team. I split my time between the Norfolk coast, with my partner in Oxfordshire and Cornwall with my family.
